General Information

The Harvesters is a support group of women that raise funds and promote awareness for the Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County. The Fifthteen Annual Harvester Fashion Show and Luncheon will take place Thursday, September 27th 2007, at the Island Hotel, Newport Beach.

This year more than ever, the Harvesters and the Second Harvest Food Bank are seeking the support of continuing and new underwriters. As the affluence of our county continues to grow, it places in jeopardy the tenuous situation the working poor and elderly face each day just to be able to afford a daily meal. The spiraling cost of rents has pushed many of our citizens over the edge resulting in 456,000 of them at risk of missing a daily meal.

Over 62% are children and the elderly and single parent or families on fixed incomes or hourly wages. The situation is dire and we really ask your help in helping bridge this need in our community. The Second Harvest Food Bank uses 94.2 cents of every dollar raised to collect food that would otherwise be thrown out and helps distributes that food to over 400 member charities in our community. For every dollar that is raised the Food Bank can distribute $12.00 worth of food. The opportunity for you to impact thousands of lives is huge and we feel it is a privilege to be able to do so.

Each Underwriter to the 2007 event will receive an invitation for two to the Luncheon and Fashion Show on September 27th, as well as and invitation for two to the Underwriter Party hosted by Louis Vuitton, to be held on September 14th at the home of Jackie and Colt Melby.
