Classification: Full-Time, Non-exempt (Hourly)

Reports to: Community Relations Manager

Job Summary:
The Public and Government Relations Coordinator works with the Chief Mission Officer as well as the Community Relations Manager to define Food Bank policy strategy (local, state, and federal) each year and develop programming and communications to support that strategy. In addition, this position supports all public relations initiatives and special events. This position is responsible for researching, creating, writing, organizing, and disseminating information regarding Second Harvest Food Bank’s needs, activities, events, issues, and policy stances. This position is accountable for coordinating countywide communication efforts to inform the media, donors, community leaders, policy makers, partners and other stakeholders about complex issues and policies affecting the Food Bank, its network, constituents, and hunger relief efforts in general. This government relations work is conducted in partnership with the OC Food Bank and the Orange County Hunger Alliance.
