Last year Second Harvest provided a record 25.1 million meals for the hungry. While we have made great strides in reducing hunger in Orange County, there is still a significant meal gap in our community. What that means for the hungry is they aren’t always able to get food for themselves and their families when they need it.
Second Harvest developed an aggressive strategic plan aimed at pursuing our Bold Goal of ending hunger in Orange County. We set our sights on increasing the number of meals we provide annually from 20 million to 30 million by 2021, closing the meal gap and ensuring that anyone who is hungry can easily access food in their time of need.
Reaching our Bold Goal involves more than providing food though. Solving hunger relies upon our ability to leverage every available resource in the community – from private donations to government nutrition programs. Your valued partnership with Second Harvest is essential to the success of our mission. By combining our resources and efforts as we work together to end hunger, we will achieve our ultimate vision – creating a future in which no one goes hungry. Ever.
We know that the resources we need to reach our Bold Goal are available right here in Orange County. In order to incorporate and utilize those resources, we must first increase our capacity, as well as that of our community partners.
Together we will:
We cannot do it without you! Your partnership and support will help us provide the additional meals needed to close the meal gap and reach our Bold Goal. Together, we will make sure that no man, woman or child goes to bed hungry in Orange County. With your help, we will make our community a better place for all.
