There will always be hunger, but there is a way to ensure that our hungry neighbors will be fed in the future.
Be bold for your family and to your community – leave a legacy of hunger relief by becoming a member of the Daniel J. Harney Legacy Society.
Our founder, Daniel J. Harney, was a pioneer for change and left a legacy of hunger relief in Orange County. In 1978, Harney established Society of St. Vincent de Paul, which later became known as Second Harvest Food Bank. He accomplished his vision of ending hunger for those in need through inspiring the community around him to help create a positive impact. To keep his generous spirit alive, Second Harvest has established the Daniel J. Harney Legacy Society.
The Daniel J. Harney Legacy Society is designed to recognize and honor those who have decided to be bold and leave a legacy of hunger relief by making provisions for a future gift to Second Harvest.
Legacy giving utilizes tax-advantaged giving so that the donor receives the benefit of using the tax savings to help Second Harvest in its mission to end hunger. There are several ways you can do this including, adding Second Harvest in your will; naming Second Harvest as a beneficiary of a retirement or savings account, life insurance policy, or charitable trust; or making an outright gift to our endowment fund.
We invite you to join us at one of our monthly Legacy Lunches, held every 2nd Tuesday of the month from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm at Second Harvest’s facility in Irvine. Professionals with expertise on legacy giving
(i.e. Investment Advisor, CPA, Professional Trustee, Attorney, Donor Advised Fund Advisor) will present on various related topics.
RSVP required to Christine Montevideo, Development Officer, by the 1st of the month at (949) 208-3150 or Christine@FeedOC.org.
Upcoming 2018 and 2019 dates are:
October 9 – Basic Estate Planning
November 13 – Retirement Planning
December 11 – Year-End Tax Planning
January 8 – Life Insurance and Charitable Giving
Thank you so very much! What a truly wonderful way to ensure our hungry neighbors will be fed in the future. We would like to honor you by adding you as a member of the Daniel J. Harney Legacy Society.
